The Very Busy Mr. Gove

Yesterday it was announced that Mr. Gove's visit to Sandwell on the 4th August (maximum impact for all involved in teaching and learning!) to apologise to the local authority has been cancelled. The reason for this you ask? He is too busy to take a 1.5 hour train journey to the midlands. Sandwell personnel will now have to travel to London to receive their apology. I do hope Mr. Gove's demanding schedule means he is looking into ways to fund improvements for those schools denied BSF and not…See More

Save our new School

17/11 During the past week we have had visits from Rob Vincent, Chief Executive of Doncaster Council, The Mayor of Doncaster , Peter Davies, Jamie Kilner, Assistant Director of Childrens Services and two colleagues from the Department of Education. They all agree that we need a new building for our students. Let us hope that those holding the purse strings are listening.

Check out the video I have posted by Ken Robinson if you want to understand and be inspired.
Note to Ed. Milliband, the Leader of the Opposition. Today you thanked the people of North Doncaster for putting you where you are today. Repay that debt by getting behind our campaign for a new School for Don Valley. Send him a message by clicking on this link http://www2.labour.org.uk/new-leader-message
You may have read on the news recently that Campsmount Technology College is to be rebuilt after the devastating fire at the campus. We are working hard to persuade the coalition government that Don Valley should have the capital investment for a rebuild.

This site is part of a campaign that we are launched on the 13th of July to save the new School that had been promised to the communities of Scawthorpe, Bentley, Toll Bar and Arksey.
Don Valley was first on the list of Doncaster schools to be rebuilt and plans were at an advanced stage but last week the coalition government axed the Building Schools for the Future project.
Last year Don Valley became a Foundation Trust School and entered into a partnership with Cambridge University, Pilot Theatre and NHS Doncaster. The Trust is urging all members of the Don Valley Community to support our campaign to save our new School.

The Academies Bill is being rushed through Parliament on the 19th of July. Is this an educational, political or ideological decision? Any thoughts?

BBC newsround

Have just watched Newround with the kids and they have done a feature about school buildings. There are some videos and clips from the lobby on Monday. The presenter Sonali also speaks to Micheal Gove - it's quite interesting the promise he makes to one school - I think we need to get him up to Doncaster!!

Maybe someone more technically minded than me can work out how to put a video link from the BBC onto this site!!! (…
